Lori + Cow, 26 May 2008.

This past Memorial Day weekend, Lori and I took a trip to my parents' house in Pennsylvania. With the great weather, we were able to enjoy the countryside at its best. We took an early morning walk yesterday and I was able to capture Lori with an unfriendly bellowing milk cow.

Photo

I cannot believe Lori posted that photo she took here. That is a horrible picture. Posting of that picture was not discussed and removal is more than likely.

Healthy Kidney 10K, Central Park 5/17/08

This is the race Mike ran last Saturday. So far, he has ran 3 of the required 9 to be in the 2009 marathon.

You didn't think I would let this one go, did you? Mike is such a runner...I however, have developed a knack for being a great cheering section. Now that I am FINALLY done with finals, I can actually get outside and enjoy the park. Who knows, maybe I will be able to run a race someday too. Great job Mike!!

Apt., 17 March 2008.

On Saturday, Lori and I hung out in the city. Despite the good times had at Dennis's apartment in Brooklyn the previous evening, I ran in the "Healthy Kidney" NYRR 10K in the park at 9 AM. It was a really nice day, so there were a lot of people running. Lori met me at the finish line around Central Park West and W. 62nd St. We walked home, had breakfast, and then went to the Museum of Modern Art for a couple of hours. I really like it there- my favorite museum by far. We then proceeded back uptown, had a glass of wine sitting outside on Broadway, Pinkberry (yet another weakness of mine), went home and got dressed, and went to dinner at Thai Market on Amsterdam (a weakness of Lori's). KC and Eileen trekked in from Brooklyn and met us at the Ding Dong Lounge afterwards. We then proceeded to our apartment which resulted in the following foolish photos.

Park Slope, Brooklyn; 16 May 2008.

Dennis was kind enough to invite us over on Friday night. It was very nice, and clearly, a good time was had by all.

Thursday; 10:45 AM

Thursday, we have made it to Thursday. Looking so forward to two simple days without our usual committments may make me seem regretful of the path my life has taken, but hell- who doesn't and who isn't, a bit..
Warm weather today. Humid, 70's, misty rain showers- I was hot walking to work today. No complaints though; the green ness and growth and change of season is refreshing.
Lori is done with her law classes for this semester. She has three finals next week, and as of next Thursday night, she will have completed 50% of her law school experience. Very productive- makes a lot of us fools look like slugs. Tonight we will go to our usual Thursday night spot- The Ding Dong Lounge http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-ding-dong-lounge-new-york#hrid:OoiyztkE2LYozL_LXl-avg/query:ding%20dong Its fun and eclectic and close.
Our favorite Seattlite, the notorious Karalyne K.C. Crowder is coming to town on Saturday for a week. Fun times guaranteed. We are also likely to attend a solo show at the Manhattan Graphics Center (481 Washington St.) of our favorite New York lithographer Courtney Zell. She does great stuff www.teenytinyhorses.blogspot.com. Sunday- Mothers Day.

An observation

Noticeably absent from this blog are pictures of the second half of this duo. "Oh Mike, where are the pics of you?" our readers may inquire. I guess its always the photographer and never the subject ey? Well I will be sure to take care of that this week. So to all of you who are so anxiously awaiting a recent photo of the hero of this adventure, fear not... I shall quench thine appetites shortly.

Oh, and today my love of the great bard himself, William Shakespeare, was once again rekindled. Melissa and I are reading As You Like It with our seventh graders and believe it or not, they LOVE it. They are very into reading the parts out loud in front of the class and acting out scenes. It just confirms that Shakespeare truly is a writer for all time and consequence. How great it felt to share with a young generation the lines of the famous speech,
"All the worlds a stage and all the men and women merely players."(Act 2: Scene 7)
I knew there was some reason I started teaching in the first place...
